My Boy

One more for the day. So cute!

Blue Milk!?

Have you ever seen it? I haven't, but today the girls coloured toast, yes toast with coloured milk. It was cooking day at pre-school, Keira ate hers and Kylie thought hers was just too pretty to eat. So I took a picture of it, so we don't have to have it hanging around for a long period of time. I think its pretty crafty for a piece of toast. That girl can draw a flower on anything and she will!

I was out shooting the little flowers this morning and again tonight, playing with the light and a reflector that I borrowed from my friend. The girls were up in the window serenading me with Jingle Bells while I shot. They had some old christmas card that played music and they sang along to it. It was pretty funny.
Here is the best one of today.

Thankful Sunday

Today I am thankful for my friends.

I have all kinds of friends.

Mom Friends
Old Friends
New Friends
Photography Friends
Inspiring Friends
Admirable Friends
Best Friends
School Friends
Empowering Friends
Computer Friends

Some friends I talk to a lot,
Some, not so much (but I think about them a lot)

Tonight I had a nice night out with some new friends. We laughed really hard, we talked, we listened, we all have a common hobby and we all have children the same age and we all aspire to better ourselves outside the world of "Mom".

Here are a few of the kiddos from this weekend.

Cheerleaders

Some days I need to stop and really watch my girls, because they can be so awesome to each other. Yes they have little moments of greatness, hidden amongst the arguing and fighting.
I love to see how encouraging they are to each other and how they will praise each other for a good job. Kylie mostly does it for Keira. Maybe its Kylie playing the mother role, that she plays so well. But it is really heartwarming to see that they are really each others cheerleaders. It sort of confirms that Sean and I are doing a good job as well, because hey, they had to learn praise and encouragement from somewhere! LOL!

I hope that they do this for each other and their brother throughout their whole life and it won't be something they out grow.

Thankful

Today was an emotional day. We were at a funeral for our best friend's Mom who passed suddenly this week. I feel so sad for our friends and the hard road that lies ahead of them. I hope it isn't too hard of a ride for them.
So I was in the shower tonight (yummy baby puke), thinking and running the hot water tank out. I love to do that.
And I was reminded that my thankfulness needs up-dating.

I am thankful for:

my parents
that they have a great relationship with our kids
that they are retired
that they are at our beck and call :o)
that they live close by
that they are healthy
that they are so easy going

going out for dinner with some good friends (and without the kiddos)

frozen breast milk

crab and melted butter

Sean

coffee

that Kaylum puked all over me after the funeral and not before!

Counters

We have been living with pink counter tops for 8 years now. If you can believe, we had the same ones in the townhouse. Someone in the mid 90's thought pink was the new beige. Gag! So we finally got new ones on Tuesday. I am so happy with how they turned out. It feels like they have been here all along and it is a great improvement.
Next is the paint, I have had a paint swatch painted on the wall for well over a year. I was pretty gung-ho and then I got pregnant and so sick, I wasn't up for the job. Sean hates, no loathes painting so we found someone to do the job for us. We were also going to get the hallways painted and that's a pretty big job as the entry way goes up 2 stories straight. So we were going to get that done this weekend. Unfortunately the painter was in a car accident and broke his rib, so now its put off until he is better or we find another painter. Damn.

Busy Day

I am getting a little behind here. I am procrastinating paying the bills. the on-line banking keeps popping up saying I have been idle for too long. Yeah, yeah. Shut up.
Today we got new counter tops for our kitchen! YEAH! We had these horrible dusty rose counters and we were so fortunate (not) to have the same ones in our old house. What are the odds?! So after 8 years of pink, we now have nice black formica faux slate ones. So nice! I love them and a shiny new sink, which was free from Mom and Dad! And a shiny new faucet. On the weekend the painters come to finish our transformation from drab to fab. LOL! Everything is coming together really well.
Mom and Dad were here for the whole day to help hold the baby while I cleaned all the cupboards before putting everything back in. The girls also were at school today and they started soccer so it was really helpful that they were here while I shuttled and clean and all the other stuff in between.
I will post pics when it is done.
I also want to post some pics from our fun weekend, but that too will have to wait.
I need to pay these bill cuz I know Kaylum is going to wake up soon.

Friday Thankful

I am thankful for spring flowers. They brighten up those gloomy spring days and make me happy that more beautiful flowers will soon be here. I love hyacinth and their smell. I brought this one inside and it has filled the whole downstairs with it's yummy smell.

Skate Park

We went for a walk up to the library yesterday and we stopped in the skate park on the way home. I thought the graffiti would make an interesting back ground. The girls had fun in the bowl. They were sliding down on their bum and then they couldn't get out. I thought about making a run for it, na, just kidding. And then we cut through the forest. Kiera found herself a long to drag around for awhile. I don't have any good ones of that though.
I have been playing with some new photoshop tricks so I hope they look ok to you. Let me know if they don't.

Kylie's turn

This is a little example of how Kylie sees life through her little camera. My parents gave her their old digital. Its really perfect for her because its so old and, well, crappy. So she picks it up every now and then and starts snapping. These were from last Sunday. You can tell how we spend our Sunday evenings.
I have a folder just for her pics on the computer. Sean and I were going through it tonight and having a chuckle. There is about 2 1/2 years worth of pic in the folder and it is neat to see how the girls have changed and how the house has improved and our family has grown!
There are a lot of pictures of Kylie walking from one room to another and the path she took. Or last week we let her take it to the zoo, so there are many pics of the route we took. And I can't tell you how many pics of the tv or the carpet or dare I say, my bum! Ugh! There is some serious black mail pics in that folder!
I just think it is neat to see how life looks through the lens of a little girl's camera and what is important to her, because she shoots what she loves, just like the rest of us!!

New Tricks

Well I officially have a roller. For sure this time. Kaylum has mastered the roll and he is getting better at skooching around on his belly too. I am trying to get the girls to be more careful with what they leave on the floor. This is going to be challenging.
So today Kaylum rolled over when he was in his crib and managed to move around a bit too. Silly boy. I told Sean that we are going to have to lower the crib mattress now as he is always trying to pull himself up too.
I posted some pics of the girls feeding Kaylum his cereal. They are quite happy to help! I hate feeding babies. LOL! Maybe they have a new job.

So today I am thankful for my house cleaner! Keira asked me why I don't clean the toilet. I said why do you want to do it? She said no, and I said neither do I! The girls thought that she came over and cleaned the house out of the goodness of her heart. I had to explain that it was her work. Just like Daddy has work, this is her work.
I had her start when I was preggie and just couldn't bend over to do anything. And well, we aren't house cleaning fans either. I have a hard enough time getting laundry and the tidying done with these 3. So she really helps and I am very thankful to be able to have her come and clean.
I am also thankful for pizza night, any night I don't have to cook, is a good night to me!

Inspriation

I love it and hate it when I am inspired. All rolled up into a neat little ball.

I love being able to be creative and learning new ways to be creative, building on what I learned and making something my own. As you can tell from the previous post. I have been spending a lot of time taking pictures (I have almost 1000 for March). I am working on my talent and I love it! I am also working on the photoshop aspect of it as well. I love that too! I am building on the basics that I already know.

The hate part comes in, when the inspiration has to wait. Take right now, I thought I would make a quick entry. Instead I am sitting on the floor, typing with one hand, nursing with the other and hoping that the little dude doesn't bite me!! Yes, my creativity must wait for babes.

Template Fun

I have been learning some new skills in photoshop and I just thought I would share. I didn't make the templates, I just learned how to add pics to them. I really like the Kaylum ones.

This one is mine, I followed a tutorial and made it. Pretty simple.
