Corn Maze

We spent a gorgeous day wandering through a corn maze this past Sunday. You certainly couldn't tell it was the end of September, the weather was so warm. We had a great time and I never thought we'd spend 3 hours there!

Kaylum's Birthday Party

We had a house full on Saturday to help us celebrate Kaylum's birthday. We had Shawna make us another cake and some cupcakes for the party. This time vanilla cake with coconut icing. It was TO DIE FOR!! This lady has a talent, and a customer for life!

Kaylum was excellent at his party and was good enough to have a nice long nap before it started so he was nice and re-freshed. He had a great time and when the cake came out, he knew what to do! Stick your fingers in it and suck off the icicng! He did it to a cupcake so he got to enjoy one all to himself.

It was a great time and the kids really enjoyed themselves as well. I was a little sad, no more 1st birthday's in this house. But I am looking forward to all the 2nd and 3rd etc birthdays! This little boy is something special and I am so excited that he's mine and I get to watch him grow. Its going to be quite a ride!!

Happy Birthday My Son!

Today my one and only son turned one! WOW! I can't believe a year has gone by so fast. And what a year. This little guy was the biggest surprise of my life and now, he one of the biggest pieces of our family. It took a long time to get use to the idea of 3 children, even after we had 3 children but now I can't imagine my life without him. When I look back at family pics from before he was born, I think they don't look right, something is missing.
Kaylum brings such joy to our hearts. He is a true little boy and I love every second I have with him. He is walking all over the place now and giving kisses. He can say mama sometimes and I just melt to hear those words. He loves to eat and wants only what you are eating. He is totally off baby food, even gets angry when you try to feed him some. He loves spaghetti, toast, yogurt, bananas, rice, peas, cheese, crackers and veggie booties! He is such a curious guy, doesn't miss a thing and has his 8th tooth coming in! He loves to laugh and we love to hear him laugh, its truly one of the greatest laughs! He loves to play with brushes and combs, computers, remote controls and phones. Mostly things he can't have.
Kaylum is such a delite, he is doing great at sleeping through the night and we actually have a nap schedual now! He loves his bottles and gets very excited when he sees one! I am still nursing a little, mostly before he goes to sleep, but even then, its not all the time!
Happy Birthday Kaylum, we love you so much and love watching you grow!

Cake Smash

To honor Kaylum's first birthday tomorrow, I booked a session with Jillian for a smash the cake session. Its when you put your naked (well diaper only) baby in front of a cake and let them go at it and take pictures!
My new friend Shawna made this awesome cake for us and over to Jill's we went. Kaylum had a blast sitting behind this cake, taking little swipes at the icing and sucking it off his fingers and making "yum" and "hmm" noises. His feet got the most icing on them and he was sampling off his toes too. Then he was picking off the polk a dots, some he ate, some he put back on top of the cake!
I finally had to break a little piece of cake off for him and he held it in his hand while still sucking on his other fingers! It was so much fun and Jill and I had a great time watching him enjoy the most sugar he has ever had in his life!
Stay tuned to Jill's blog for a sneak peak! I know I can't wait to see the results!

The cake wasn't smashed at all. It just has a little chunk out of it. This picture is of course I before that I took.

Mr. Walker!

How cute is this pic!? I took it at the lake on Sunday. It was Kaylum's first time playing with sand and he LOVED it! He must have played for a hour in it, scooping it, squishing it and of course eating it!

My little boy is a full on walker now! He started last week and wow! I can't believe how fast he is mastering this new skill and I am really enjoying watching him toddle around the house. I know it won't be long before I am eating these words, he is going to be trouble soon, I just know it!

Follow Along

I have added a new feature to my blog. I would love to know who (if any) follows my blog. Its sort of like a fan page. Just click follow along on the right hand side of my blog. I don't think you need a profile to follow and following along with me. Who will be the first follower??

Thankful

Today I am thankful that I am a stay at home Mom and that I have a husband who works so hard so that I can be!
When we were at school this morning, I saw a daycare provider and her crew stop outside Kylie's class. She had a list of where each kid needed to be. It just made me grateful that I get to be there for my kid's first days of school. To be able to drop them off, pick them up, help in their class and make their after school snack. One day they may hate it but one day they will appreciate it.

Grade 1!!

Today was Kylie's first day of Grade 1! That's right! Last post I was talking about Kindergarten and now is her first day of Grade 1.
In the spring our school was telling us that there would be full day Kindergarten. Come last week, the first day all be it, we were told there wasn't going to be a full day K. We were really looking forward to this opportunity for Kylie and there was talk of her even entering a K/1 split class. This was right up Kylie's alley. But it never happened. The money never came through and the classes were never made.
It was a really stressful week. Kylie's pre-school teacher had mentioned to us that we should consider putting her into a Gr 1 class if there isn't going to be a split. Thankfully the school was open to this and come Friday, we officially had a little girl in Grade 1! WOW!
We are so proud of Kylie! She is so smart and we are so relieved that she is going to be challenged this year at school.
So today was her first full day of school. She was loaded down with her school supplies in her back pack and off we went! I think she was a little concerned that she didn't know anyone in her class, but seemed to get over that quickly. I was a little shaky on the walk home. How did this day come so fast? I was still processing Kindergarten, now we have jumped right past that!
We happened to drive by later in the morning while Kylie was finishing recess. I honked and waved and she shouted to me, " ITS NOT TIME TO GO YET!!" I had a nice laugh over that.
She had a great day and I am so glad. Kylie said that Damien is her best friend, she fell down at recess and had to visit the medical room for a band aid for her scraped knee, she told us the story of how her teacher broke her leg over summer break, and showed us their special hand sign to tell the teacher they need to use the washroom. Oh and she ran 2 km in kilometer club too! She also made a self portrait and cut out the paper hair all by herself!

Good Bye Summer

Can you believe summer is over! Well not in the technical way, there are still 2o days of summer. But in the vacation way. I just had my last sleep-in during the week this morning and starting tomorrow I will be joining all the other parents out there who take their kiddos to school every day! I can't believe Kylie will be starting Kindergarten tomorrow. Makes me a little teary eyed. Where has the last 5 1/2 years gone? She is really looking forward to school and going every day, meeting new friends, seeing her old friends and learning new things. She is a smart cookie that girl. The past few weeks she has been asking us to write math problems for her. Amazing!

I just wanted to post this picture. I was taking some pictures and when I went to put my camera back in my bag, the spot was already taken!
This is Keira's baby doll. It used to be our cousin Hannah's and my Aunt gave it to Keira when we were in Manitoba. Since then, she isn't far from the doll. She makes trips to the store with us, sleeps in Keira's bed, eats with us and is in desperate need of a bath and some clothes! I guess now she is also camera gear!
