My Highland Lassies

Tomorrow is a very important day in our house. Well besides it being Sean's birthday, its the girl's first dancing competition. They are very excited to dance tomorrow and have been counting down for days. They want to win a trophy or a medal. I will just be happy if they get on stage and complete both dances.

Tonight we got their kilts on and had a little photo shoot. Don't ask why I don't have one of them together, it never occurred to me. DUH!

Silly Dog

Our dog is forever seeking a sunny warm place to lay down in. The other day I caught her here basking.

More Snow

Well we really got dumped on yesterday! More snow!? UGH! I am still traumatized from our last dump at Christmas time. Kaylum was very excited to see it and this morning when he got up he kept pointing outside saying "NO!" He wouldn't let me carrying him this morning when we were taking Kylie into school. He wanted to get down and touch the NO.

The funny thing about this snow, is that just a little ways to the west, its green! Sean sent me a picture from Vancouver this morning and nothing. But the sun is shining and soon the rain will be back!

Ducks Galore!

This week has been super busy. But yesterday was a Pro-D day, so we took a fun day trip with my parents. We went to the Reifel Bird Sanctuary in Ladner. Its been a lot of years since we've been and while not much has changed, it was a whole new experience going with the kids.

There were hundreds of ducks to greet us in the parking lot. They were very hungry, it was almost like they hadn't eaten in days! I think ducks are the piggies of the bird world!!

The kids loved feeding the birds, especially Kaylum. He wasn't scared at all of the large swarm around him.

We stopped to eat our lunch at one of the observation towers and there were a couple ladies hanging around up there. This one was rather friendly. Her friend was interested in my sandwich until she caught a whiff of the egg and left.

But as you can see, the ducks are rather tame. I don't know if that's a good thing. But it makes for a neat experience.

I love chickadees but they are so fast! They don't sit still for long.

The walk was long but the kids did great! Kaylum wanted to walk most of the time. I think we left him walk about half the way and then we locked him down. Otherwise I think we would still be there! I forgot how slow walking with a toddler is.
If you can believe it, we met up with some good friends! We didn't know they would be there, but Keira spotted them from quite a ways away. I thought she just saw someone with the same jacket! So they climbed up the observation tower together with my Dad. Apparently there was a great view. LOL!

This was a great trio of Sandhill Cranes we came upon. We have seen them at the zoo many times but it was neat to see them in the wild. You would think they were some famous celebrity family with the group of paparazzi surrounding them! Dad and I had really bad lens envy when we saw some of the gear these guys were packing. We were asked not to drool on the lens. LOL!

Late for School

Even though we were running a tad bit late for school this morning, I couldn't let this photo op pass me by, that's why its taken with Kylie's camera. LOL! The girls were just sitting there waiting for me and Kaylum went and skootched in right next to them. CUTE!!

Milk and Candy♦

So what do you do when you need a wee model to cooperate, so you can try something out? Well you feed him M & M's of course!!

And then he washes it down with a bit of milk!

Happy Ground Hog's Day

Happy Ground Hog's Day. Apparently we are in for 6 more weeks. But I don't really believe the acts of a marmot will predict our weather. And why is he only called on once a year for predictions? Why aren't we asking these little dudes, if its going to be sunny during the summer so we can hit the beach? Someone must have been very desperate a long, long time ago for winter to end, January drags. Maybe it was the little hope they needed to get through February.
I took these in Manitoba in June. I came upon the babies by accident. We all enjoyed watching the babies cuddle in the grass with each other. I think we came upon the Dad as well, he was huge!! But I don't have a great picture of him.
You can find a couple more images over at my Dad's blog.

February Already!?

I have been so busy with the business side of life that I am not doing much blogging.
We've had a fairly busy week and I can't believe its February already! Kylie's birthday is soon and she is very excited. She keeps reminding us to buy her gift.

I have been practicing with my new flash for some important up coming shoots and the girls have been fairly willing to model for me, no bribes required! LOL Here are some samples.

Keira went to the firehall with her pre school this week. Always a fun trip. That night she told us we have to practice our fire safety and whispered to me that we have to climb out the window too! I thought it was pretty funny. Last year she was a little un-easy after the trip but this year she is older and took the information much better.

The little man has been suffering from a cold with week and now is getting his 2 top eye teeth. That doesn't seem to slow him down and he is still as busy as ever. He has some new words this week but my fav is EMILY is sounds more like EMMIE. Very cute!

This one is a couple weeks old (he still has his hamburger head). He looooooves yogurt!
